Santa Clarita highlight
Master-planned community with Cowboy Festival
Santa Clarita originated as a master-planned community and celebrates its heritage with an annual free Cowboy Festival in William S. Hart Park.

Santa Clarita was formed in 1987 from the incorporation of four communities—Saugus, Newhall, Valencia and Canyon Country—with Valencia at its heart. Valencia was California's original master-planned community, developed by Newhall Land and Farming Company beginning in the 1960s under a master plan adopted in 1965. First residents arrived in 1967, and the development eventually grew to encompass 15,000 acres with plans for more than 21,000 homes. This planned approach to city building shaped Santa Clarita's character as a modern family community with coordinated parks, schools and commercial districts.
Each year Santa Clarita hosts the Cowboy Festival, a free community celebration held in William S. Hart Park in Old Town Newhall. The 30th annual festival in 2026 features live performances on three stages, western-themed vendors, line dancing, archery, axe throwing, and mechanical bull riding. The festival reflects the region's heritage as a center of California's early film industry, when Western movies were shot in the canyons and streets of what is now Santa Clarita. The festival draws thousands of visitors and families to Old Town Newhall each spring.
Santa Clarita families—whether multigenerational households in neighborhoods built forty years ago or newer arrivals in planned communities—build their lives around shared traditions and long-term plans. Life insurance is part of that planning. A fixed sum left to the people you name, triggered by something you hope never happens, is the financial backbone of that security. The quote tool here lets you see what that backbone costs at your age and health, from every carrier that quotes it.
